Beginning with the establishment by Dr. Ida Sophia Scudder in 1899 at Christian Medical College in Vellore, India, is an inspiring story of the growth and development of one of India’s most innovative & successful medical institutions. After coming to India as a missionary, she witnessed the death of three pregnant women due to a lack of female physicians. This experience reshaped her life’s direction.
