NMC PG Medical Course Application 2026 Deadline: 20 April 2026 — Plus New Student Feedback Form Launched

NMC PG Medical Course Application 2026 Deadline

The National Medical Commission (NMC) released two significant announcements on March 26, 2026, including updates related to the NMC PG medical course application 2026. This includes providing medical schools with additional time to apply for new postgraduate (PG) medical programs or increases in seat numbers and a call for MBBS students across India to express their views Many Indian students today are also exploring options like studying MBBS abroad, especially MBBS in Russia, due to its affordable fees and globally recognized universities. Here is a simplified summary of both announcements. Students planning their postgraduate journey should also understand the latest NMC guidelines for MBBS abroad students to ensure eligibility and compliance.

Notice 1: A new deadline for NMC PG medical course applications 2026-2027

Your college/institution will have more time to file an application to establish a new PG medical program, develop a new stand-alone PG college, or increase seats in an existing PG program. The NMC PG medical course application 2026, Assessment and Rating Board (MARB), has extended the deadline for submission formally.

Important Dates to Know

  • The application portal is open from March 2, 2026
  • The old deadline is March 31, 2026, 11:59 PM
  • The new extended deadline is April 20, 2026, 11:59 PM
  • This announcement is from Dr M.K. Ramesh, Chairman, MARB
  • The academic year is AY 2026–2027

Students preparing for PG should also keep track of the NEET PG Exam 2026 preparation strategy to stay ahead

Why was the deadline extended?

On March 12th, 2026, the Postgraduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) published changes to The Post Graduate Medical Minimum Standard Requirements 2023 (PGMSR-2023). These new requirements will be in effect immediately for AY 2026 – 2027. Because of the time required for colleges to read and understand the new requirements in order to comply with them before submitting their applications, MARB pushed the deadline back approximately three weeks from March 31st to April 20th, 2026.

Important: All other terms and conditions remain the same as outlined in the original Public Notice of February 27, 2026, with the only change being the extension to the deadline.

Who may apply?

The extension applies to three different categories of applicants:

  • Medical colleges currently in existence wishing to begin a new postgraduate training program for AY 2026-27 (broad speciality or super speciality).
  • Standalone PG medical institutions that are state-run and are requesting to create a new standalone PG medical institution from the ground up.
  • Current PG medical institutions are requesting to increase the number of seats in their existing PG medical programs.

The Process of Application—Step By Step

  1. Visit the official NMC site and understand the complete MBBS abroad admission process explained before applying to select your application type for a PG (postgraduate) course, either a standalone PG institution or as an affiliate of an existing (TBA) college/university.
  2. To register on the NMC online portal, you must pay a non-refundable two lakh rupee (₹200000), plus the 18% Goods and Services Tax (GST). You must pay the application fee first before you can access the next form.
  3. Complete the Application Form with complete documentation required by NMC, including a valid Consent of Grants of Accord (CGA) from a recognized university, valid for 3 years and may only be used once.
  4. Pay the fee amount after completing step 3—the total amount due for each course is ₹500000; both GST apply to a maximum of 4 (four) students; if enrolling more than four students, the total due is the sum of all students over 4, at ₹100000/seat; fees are non-refundable.
  5. Your Application must be submitted online no later than April 20, 2026, at 11:59 pm. After you have paid your Application Fee along with submitting all requested documentation, an Application Number will be generated.

Important Information on Private Academies: Only 4 PG students are allowed at a new PG institution. An Electronic Bank Guarantee of 2 crores should be provided to NMC, covering each speciality, for up to 4 students, after you have received a letter granting permission.

Assessment Process & How Assessment is Completed

Once your NMC PG medical course application 2026 has been submitted and accepted, MARB will conduct a thorough review. This review consists of multiple components, including confirming documents, checking the NMC AEBAS attendance record for all of the attendances (minimum 75%), reviewing live video feeds, reviewing HMIS data, and conducting on-site or virtual on-site inspections.

Faculty members must be registered with AEBAS and be present in the institution before the final date of the application and within 15 days of the submission date.

On the day of the assessment, only those who were catalogued by the Faculty on the date of the assessment and who were present and signed in before the start of the assessment (before 10:00 a.m.) will be counted as part of the Faculty present during the assessment. Usually, the assessment takes place over one day.

Warning About the Use of Fake Patients: The NMC has established a policy of “zero tolerance” in which an institution that admits patients for the sole purpose of showing higher bed utilization will have all of its PG departments evaluated.

If the assessors find evidence of fake patients in one PG department, it will impact the entire PG program that the college is providing.

The consequences of this finding can prevent the College from starting new courses or can increase the number of new applicants for each department.

Notice 2: NMC Launches Online Student Feedback Form for MBBS Students

NMC has created a new Online Student Feedback Form, which allows undergraduate medical students from around India to provide honest feedback about their college and their medical education as part of the 2nd major announcement made on March 26th 2026.

The significance of this Online Student Feedback Form is that it allows students to provide a direct account of what their institution is really like and that the feedback received will be completely anonymous.

The Online Student Feedback Form covers:

  • Quality of classes and lectures
  • Availability of teachers and number of teachers
  • Quality of clinical training and exposure to patients in wards
  • Quality of labs, dissection places, and practical experience
  • Training for community medicine and training in rural areas
  • Problems with hazing/abuse of students, as well as student safety
  • Campus life, including measures to prevent hazing/abuse of students and how to file complaints
  • Access to mental health services
  • Participation in non-academic activities
  • The quality of the curriculum and how well the college is run

Is your identity safe?

Yes, it is. NMC has stated that responses will remain completely confidential (that there will be no way to identify the person who completed a survey). All information collected via surveys will be used internally by NMC only to evaluate medical education in different colleges and for no other purpose.

The following are some details you can use to fill out the form:

  • Access: From website: application.nmc.org.in/student-feedback
  • Eligibility: All MBBS (undergraduate) students belonging to NMC-accredited colleges
  • Mode: Online only Confidentiality:

Anonymous (your identity will not be disclosed)

Why Should An Undergraduate Mbbs Student Fill This Out?

This is your opportunity to speak to the NMC (regulatory body for medical training). If you do not have enough clinical instructors at your college, or if you are not getting enough hands-on experience (practical training), or if your college is still permitting ragging, use this form to communicate what you believe needs to be improved by NMC. NMC can use your input when deciding how to evaluate colleges and develop a better medical education system. The more students who respond will help create a more accurate picture for the NMC.

What These Two Notices Mean For Mbbs Students

Both of the above notices are important for MBBS students in different ways.

  • The extension to submit NMC PG medical course application 2026 could mean that more institutions will apply for new PG courses, or add to the number of PG seats, therefore giving MBBS students more options when sitting for NEET-PG and applying for PG admissions next year. More seats, especially in quality institutions, will always benefit MBBS students. Many students who complete their MBBS from globally recognized universities such as Tver State Medical University, Chechen State University, or Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University often look forward to these increasing PG opportunities in India.
  •  in how their college is evaluated and held accountable.

Bottom line: The deadline for submission of PG medical course applications to the NMC for 2026 has been extended to 20 April 2026. MBBS students should complete the anonymous student Online student feedback form located at application.nmc.org.in/student-feedback to contribute towards improving the quality of medical education for all.
