NEET UG Last Date for 2026: NEET UG Registration 

The NEET UG Registration process was opened on February 8th, 2026, with a total of over one month for students to complete the NEET UG Application, provide supporting documentation, and make payment. After initially setting the application submission deadline of March 8th, 2026, the NTA extended that deadline by 3 days as a result of students’ requests for extension from coaching centers and also from the education department in some of the states, especially in the Kashmir Valley, where students have slower internet speeds than the rest of the country and are experiencing issues in completing their OTP application on time. Therefore, the final and absolute NEET UG last date is March 11th, 2026, at 9 PM. 

When talking about NEET UG 2026, one of the most significant things is that over 23 lakh applicants have registered for the examination, making this cycle among the largest medical entrance examination cycles in India’s history. All of NTA’s authorities were adamant that there would be no late registrations allowed, there would be no third extensions, and offline applications would not be accepted under any circumstances.

Can You Still Apply After the NEET UG Last Date?

The biggest question on every student’s mind is whether or not they will be able to apply for NEET UG 2026 after the last date (11 March 2026) has passed. The answer is no; you won’t be able to apply, as NTA does not accept late registrations, no exceptions—meaning there will be no late fee or option for you to submit an offline application through some government portal. Once the registration portal shuts down, there is no more opportunity to register.

No exceptions, no loopholes. 

NTA has made it very clear in all of its official information bulletins that there are no registrations that can be processed if submitted after the NEET UG Last Date 2026, and no cases have ever successfully been brought to court, forcing NTA to reopen registration to provide individual students who missed the deadline an opportunity to register.

If you registered for the NEET-UG before the final registration deadline but made a mistake that you needed to correct in your Application Form, some recommended options include registering before 12 March 2026; you would have a brief opportunity available from 12 to 14 March 2026 called the NEET-UG Correction Window, which allows you to correct the incorrect inputted data in your Application. However, you would not have been able to update all of the information. 

The following fields could have been updated with the documents that you provided, which were required to correct: 

• Your name
• Your correct date of birth
• Your category, and
• Your preferred pickup site.

NEET UG 2026 Registration Fee: Same Fees by Category?

There are different application fees for different categories in the NEET-UG process that you need to be aware of in order to be prepared when you apply next year as well. Each fee mentioned in this article was made via an online payment transaction (debit, credit card, net banking, or electronic funds transfer via your bank) only. Each category fee was as follows:

• General or Non-Resident Indian (India): 1700 Rupees
• General EWS or OBC-NCL: 1600 Rupees
• SC or ST or Persons with Disabilities (PwD – Third Gender): 1,000 Rupees
• Exam Centres (Outside of India): 9500 Rupees

Note: The fees were nonrefundable. If you registered for the exam and did not take the exam, there will be no refund of your registration fee.

If You Registered: What Comes Next?

Following your successful registration before the last date of the NEET exam and the possession of your application number, below is your roadmap from the present through the date of the exam:

1. Admit Card: The NTA is expected to publish the NEET-UG 2026 in the last week of April 2026 or early May 2026 on the official website neet.nta.nic.in. Without this, you will not be able to sit for the exam. Download the Admit Card once it has been made available; also, verify that the Credential Data is correct.
2. Communication of the Place of Examination: This will be made available a few weeks before the admit card and will indicate to you the city where your examination centre will be located. This will help you to book travel arrangements and accommodation early, if required.
3. Date of Examination: The NEET-UG 2026 exam is expected to be conducted in May 2026 (typically on the first Sunday). The exam will take place in the form of a paper/pencil format (OMR) and will run from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. It is required that you arrive at your assigned examination centre no later than 1:00 PM and bring your Admit Card and one other form of Government issued Picture ID. There will be no use of any type of electronic devices, including mobile phones, at the exam centre.
4. Results and Counselling: The results have been distributed. Based on your written score and rank, you will be eligible to participate in the MCC Counselling procedure for admission into MCC-affiliated colleges in reference to Government Quota Seats; all State Governments shall also conduct individual rounds of counselling.

If You Missed the NEET UG Last Date: Real Options Available to You

Your medical career doesn’t have to stop just because you missed the NEET UG last date. It may feel terrible now, but many, many people have missed registration for one year and then came back the next year stronger than ever and aced the NEET test! Here are some practical ideas for setting yourself up for success: 

1. Start preparing for the NEET UG exam in 2027: The NEET UG exam is given yearly, so you will have a complete 12 months to study (with no board exam pressure interfering) if you begin structured study today (start with the NCERT biology book)! Many students who did this after missing registration or failing the NEET, ended up scoring over 600 on their second attempt! 
2. MBBS Abroad: Some countries will still accept old NEET scores from years past for entrance into their mbbs university (MBBS in Russia, MBBS in Kazakhstan, MBBS in Bangladesh, MBBS in Georgia & the MBBS in Philippines), so if you took the NEET in 2024 or 2025, check to see if you meet their qualifying criteria.
3. Consider allied health science courses: You may want to consider courses related to health science (such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, dietetics, nursing (BSc), medical laboratory technology, and radiology) because these courses do NOT require a NEET score for entrance.

If you registered for NEET UG before the deadline, below is a summary of how the exam will be structured. Understanding the exam format will allow you to make accurate plans for your study time over the next month before taking the exam.

Marking: +4 for each right answer; −1 for each wrong answer; zero points for unanswered questions. Strategy: do not guess; the penalty for a wrong answer is an effective cost of 5 points—4 points (for a correct answer) plus 1 point (for an incorrect guess).

The Real Reason Students Miss the NEET UG Last Date

Students are typically perceived as irresponsible regarding their missed NEET UG last date. However, during the final day of registration for NEET UG Cycle 2026, thousands of students experienced many errors on the portal due to the overwhelming number of people (2.3 million) trying to register in the final 48 hours.

Most affected by the overwhelming number of registrations were students living in rural areas and areas with limited internet access. This is not an individual student’s fault, but more so an issue surrounding the registration process and infrastructure used to build and develop it.

As it stands, until the NTA resolves how to develop a registration portal to meet the demands of the largest exam in India (NEET UG), students will continue to be penalized for missing an application deadline. 

NEET UG 2026 Eligibility — Know It for Next Year

If you plan to take the NEET UG exam in 2027, you need to know your eligibility for the NEET UG exam. You must be currently enrolled in or have completed all subjects required for high school graduation (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) by December 31st of this year (2026).

To qualify, you must be age 17 or older on December 31 of the completion of the exam. Currently, there is no defined age limit to qualify for NEET UG. General category applicants must receive 50% or higher for PCB while SC/ST/OBC candidates must receive 40% or higher for PCB.
