International Medical School Kazakhstan

Introduction

Located in Almaty, Kazakhstan’s largest metropolis, the International Medical School (IMS) is one of Kazakhstan’s most inventive and student-focused medical schools. By providing a special “Smart Medicine” program that incorporates modern technologies and emphasizes skill development, IMS has set itself apart as a medical education provider with a unique approach and methodology.

IMS was created by UIB specifically to prepare Medical Doctors; therefore, our motto is to produce the best Medical Doctors possible with both the knowledge of theory as well as the education of the skills and ethical values that are required to be successful in today’s ever-changing and complex Medical World.

IMS is supported by both the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Health, which enables IMS to ensure that we have a curriculum based on the best practices of Medical Education, meeting both the requirements of an Educational Institution and the Medical Industry.

The "Smart Medicine Program"

A differentiator for IMS compared to other Medical Schools is that IMS established the “Smart Medicine Program.” This program is a five (5)-year Doctor of Medicine (MD) that is equivalent to an MBBS and represents the next step in Medical Education focused on equipping the MD with practical skills and knowledge of the latest computerized Medical Technologies. In contrast to the traditional medical education program, which is primarily based on rote learning of theoretical concepts, the “Smart Medicine Program” includes hands-on clinical training, exposure to the real world of Clinical Medicine, and application of the latest technology in the Hospital and Office setting.
This program is 100% in English, so there is no language barrier for international students who would typically face this challenge when trying to attend medical school. International students do not need to learn Russian or Kazakh in order to complete their medical training. The university also offers courses for those students wanting to learn the native languages for clinical interaction.
The curriculum has been designed to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to be a good physician, but also to develop other characteristics such as compassion, communication skills, ethics, and leadership. The IMS understands that technical knowledge is important, but also the ability to empathize with patients, work as a team, and navigate through ethical dilemmas are extremely important qualities in being a physician.

The Smart Medicine program utilizes cutting-edge learning technology, such as simulations that allow the students to practice many of the medical procedures they will eventually perform in real life. Students are able to practice these procedures in an environment that is safe and controlled through the use of hyper-realistic mannequins and virtual reality to simulate real-world medical experiences, enabling students to build their confidence and competence progressively.

Recognition and Accreditation

A medical student’s university recognition and accreditation are crucial; therefore, IMS has received total recognition from all major global organizations, thus providing authority and respect as a worldwide institution. As a result, IMS has been officially acknowledged by WHO (World Health Organization) and features in the World Directory of Medical Schools, which is seen as an authoritative database of recognized medical schools.

Particularly for students from India, the National Medical Commission of India recognizes IMS as a recognized body that reviews medical practices and programs in India. Thus, graduates of IMS are eligible to sit for the FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduate Exam), which is required before foreign-trained medical students may practice medicine within India.

The university is officially accredited by UNESCO and FAME. Additionally, IMS has gained FIBAA Institutional Accreditation, one of the most prestigious of all European Quality Assurance pathways.

The university has built strong relationships with leading medical schools in Russia, the USA, Europe, and Asia; partnerships between institutions to promote collaborative research projects between students and faculty members; and strengthen the relationship of Indian students with the educational system and their mother country.

Academic Structure and Departments

Research using artificial intelligence has outpaced the pace of regulatory obligations associated with artificial intelligence in terms of adoption and implementation. It also has accelerated the ability of organizations to use artificial intelligence technology and the need for organizations to provide services using that technology.

The Way to implement safe use of Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare, using machine learning and/or smart technology like robotic systems, in areas such as disciplined in-house management and clinical outcomes (removed from focus on the ways of artificial intelligence) will show the need for organizations to incorporate artificial intelligence and avoid potential issues associated with artificial intelligence and pain management services. The implementation or usage or the limitations of the technology of artificial intelligence has, or will, be demonstrated to enhance healthcare services delivered through and/or by an organization.

Cost and Affordability

Affordability is a major factor when considering IMS as a place to study. Tuition fees at IMS are only around USD 3,500 each year, which is estimated at approximately 3.15–3.20 lakh Indian Rupees with the current rate of exchange being 1 USD = 85-90 INR. This amount is far less than what a student pays to attend medical school in some other countries, such as the USA, UK, & Philippines, or from Private medical colleges in India, where tuition can be anywhere between 50 Lakh and above 1 Crore for the entire program.
When a student adds together tuition, hostel, and living expenses for the entire five years of classes and one-year internship, the total amount spent will typically fall between 20 and 25 lakh Indian Rupees, depending upon their lifestyle. Given the quality of education and modern facilities as well as the international recognition received by IMS, this is an excellent value for money.

Support Services for International Students

International students studying abroad have unique challenges we at IMS recognize. We provide international students with support services, including an International Relations Department dedicated to supporting international students during their academic journey through to graduation. Services include assistance with enrollment procedures, visa-related questions, authentication/legalization of documents, and coordinating the educational process for international students.
Orientation programs have been designed specifically for international students and provide information regarding the academic requirements of the course, as well as help international students become familiar with the campus facilities and local customs/regulations and establish connections with senior international students.

The University also provides language courses to all students who are interested in learning Kazakh or Russian; these courses are not compulsory for the Medical program, but can assist students with clinical activities and everyday interactions off-campus.
