About the Institute
A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences is one of the premier dental institutes in India, and was established in Mangalore, Karnataka, in 1985. It is a constituent college of Nitte Deemed-To-Be-University. It is recognized as a leader in providing comprehensive dental care through a wide rural dental center network, pioneering research into cleft lip and palate anomalies, and providing exceptional clinical placement opportunities.
The Campus
- Clinical Facilities: The campus has a 425-chair teaching hospital and is also affiliated with the 1,000-bed Justice K.S. Hegde Charitable Hospital, providing its students with immense patient contact.
- Advanced Technology: The students are given access to advanced facilities such as CBCT radiographic imaging, CAD-CAM technology, 3D printing, and endo-surgical microscopes.
- Learning Spaces: Offers air-conditioned gallery-type lecture theaters equipped with multimedia projection and a massive 7th-floor central library containing more than 8,000 books and electronic book banks.

- NIRF Consistency: Despite fierce competition from elite institutions like AIIMS Delhi and MCODS Manipal, the institute has maintained its #6 ranking in the NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) for two years in a row (2024 & 2025).

Structure of Fees
- Qualifications for Eligibility
- Enrollment in the Bachelor of Dental Surgery program requires completion of an approved high school program or grade 12 or its equivalent (10+2).
- Possess at least a 50% grade in the following courses:
- In English,
- Physics
- Biology and Chemistry
- Applicants in the general category must maintain their All India Rank (AIR), meet the NEET-UG 2026 eligibility requirements, and have a minimum of 50% in PCB.
- have reached the age of 17 or older by December 31, 2026, at the latest.
- Application Process
- Qualify for NEET-UG 2026 (Registration: Feb–Mar 2026; Exam: May 2026).
- Visit mcc.nic.in once the results are declared.
- Register under the “Deemed Universities” category.
- Pay the non-refundable registration fee and the refundable security deposit (approx. ₹2,05,000 for the General category).
- Check the MCC allotment result.

- 10th and 12th Standard (or equivalent) Marks Cards.
- Aadhaar Card of the student and PAN Card of the parent.
- Transfer, Conduct, and Migration Certificates.
