IMS BHU Varanasi Courses: Medical Education
- AIQ (All India Quota) = 15% of the seats (22-23 approximate seats) through central counselling.
- State Quota = 85% of the seats (127-128 approximate seats) are available for applicants with domicile in Uttar Pradesh.
- First stage (1st year)
The study of Anatomical science, Physiological science, and Biochemical science, which comprise the basis of preclinical education. Anatomy requires the student to spend considerable time in the dissection rooms, the Physiology laboratory, and the Biochemistry laboratory conducting practicals to acquire the foundational knowledge about how the human body is formed and how it works.
- Second stage (2nd year)
To continue the link between Preclinical sciences and Clinical sciences, Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, and Forensic Medicine will be studied. The student will learn how diseases are formed, how drugs work, what infectious agents are, and what is required by law regarding Medicolegal Medicine.
- Third Stage (last 11/2 years)
Together, Medicine (internal medicine), Surgery, Obstetrics and Genecology, Pediatrics, Community Medicine, and several other areas of specialty comprise the Clinical portion of the curriculum. Students will engage in each of the various major Clinical Departments of the Hospital, observing and examining patients, participating in Ward Rounds with Faculty, helping to administer procedures, and developing Clinical skills with the help of Faculty.

Prospective Students—Need to Know Guide
- Admission Process
- Do well on NEET—get a good score (MBBS would usually be 650 +) or PG NEET rank to be admitted to graduate school.
- Attend Counselling—register for All India Quota (MCC) and UP state counselling.
- Prepare Documentation—have all of your certificates, mark sheets, domicile certificates, categorical certificates, etc., ready for verification.
- Follow Updates—check the IMS BHU website, as well as the relevant counselling authorities, for any admissions notifications, cut-off scores, or merit lists.
IMS BHU Fees
MBBS – Annual IMS BHU fee approximately ₹10,000-₹15,000 in tuition; annual fee plus hostel and mess charges approximately ₹60,000-₹80,000/annum
MBBS: Total IMS BHU cost of approximately ₹3.5–₹5 lakh for the complete five-and-a-half-year program, very low compared to almost any other institution offering this quality of education.
