NMC Gives Another Chance to Apply for Eligibility Certificate — Here’s What You Need to Know

nmc eligibility certificate second chance

The commission responsible for the regulation of Medical Education, the National Medical Commission (NMC), is now offering a second chance to apply for an eligibility certificate by the Ethics and Medical Registration Board (EMRB) for those students who were unable to meet the previous NMC deadline. This is an opportunity to apply, and you must act quickly, as this will only be available until 30 April 2026.

What Is the Eligibility Certificate?

Eligibility certification is an important document that EMRB, NMC issue to medical graduates who graduated with an MBBS or equivalent from a foreign medical institute. The eligibility certificate verifies that the applicant meets the requirements as defined under the regulations adopted by the National Medical Commission.

Why Has NMC Issued This Fresh Notice?

The NMC published an initial public notice on February 27, 2026, and gave candidates until March 31, 2026, to apply for an Eligibility Certificate. However, several candidates contacted EMRB Registration, indicating that they had experienced technical difficulties in the portal and were unable to submit their application during the designated timeline.

Key Dates You Must Remember

The application time frame is shortened! Important Dates you will need to keep in mind:

  • When the Portal Opens: Will be April 6, 2026, at 10:00 AM
  • Last date to apply: Will be April 13, 2026 by 6:00 PM

There are no extensions listed to your application deadline; therefore, you should not delay in submitting your application.

How To Submit Your Application

The only way to apply for a NEW application to the NMC will be through the Online NMC Portal. Please find below the direct link to the portal for submitting applications.

Apply through the official NMC portal. There is no offline or physical mode to submit an application. Please ensure all of your documents are ready and ensure a stable internet connection prior to applying for your application!

Important Instructions for Applicants

  • Do not wait until the deadline to apply. The National Medical Commission (NMC) has warned applicants to submit their applications as soon as possible because the NMC anticipates that there will be congestion on the portal due to the high volume of applications, similar to what caused the original extension.
  • Be sure to complete your application accurately. The application for an Eligibility Certificate requires multiple steps to confirm the eligibility of the applicant through a verification process conducted by the NMC, so any errors made while completing the application result in the application being returned to the individual to make corrections, which will cause more delays than necessary.
  • Incomplete applications will not be accepted. The NMC will reject all applications that are incomplete, whether it is because they are missing pages or other pertinent information, without any further notification, and the commission assumes no responsibility for rejected applications.
  • Be sure to continue to monitor your e-mail and the NMC customer support portal frequently. The NMC strongly encourages applicants to continue to check both their registered e-mail account and their customer portal on a routine basis to be up to date regarding their application and any contact from the EMRB.
